ONE CENTURY OF SUCCESS

The Grand Hotel Rimini, made famous worldwide by Federico Fellini’s films, in particular Amarcord, celebrates its 100th birthday.
Monarchs and princes, actors and musicians, politicians and scientists have stayed in the hotel’s beautiful suites, have strolled about the exotic gardens and danced on the large, magnificent terrace, whilst gazing at the sea.

Just like a colossal film set - dominated by the Liberty façade, designed by the south American architect Paolo Somazzi - where thousands of “glamorous parties” have taken place and become the backdrop for the most imaginative stories.

Claretta Petacci, Mussolini’s 20 years-old mistress, used to stand by the window of her suite and sigh when watching the “Duce’s” seaplane fly by, King Farouk of Egypt stayed at the Grand Hotel as suggested by his friend Lydia Borrelli  - the famous silent cinema star he so much admired – the worldwide known tenor Enrico Caruso booked a suite with sea view to remind him of the Gulf of Naples, Federico Fellini was 14 when for the first time he entered what he called the “the fairy world of the rich and luxury”; Christian Barnard the surgeon who pioneered heart transplant, during a prestigious dinner was portrayed next to the Princess Diana who used to spend her nights at the phone with Dodi. The Dalai Lama, Sharon Stone, the still beautiful Claudia Cardinale and many other famous and rich have appreciated the elegant charm of the hotel and filled the ancient ball rooms with their personalities.

The hotel so much loved by Fellini, a national monument since 1994, celebrates the  ambitious goal by entering the prestigious Select Hotels Collection belonging to the Batani Family. Together with the Palace, the luxury five star hotel in Milano Marittima, and 8 other hotels, the group offers a unique range of products and services for a holiday in style!.
